Crazed Fan at Miss Venezuela 2007 Pageant

Apparently, at the recently concluded Miss Venezuela Pageant, a crazed fan jumped up on stage post-coronation and snatched the crown off of the head of lovely Miss Venezuela World, 21-year old Hannelys Quintero, who competed as Miss Cojedes. He then put the crown on himself and proceeded to wave to the audience. Gasp! I know there are many crazed pageant fans out there, but clearly there are those that are certifiably insane.

Crowned as Miss World Venezuela, Hannelys Quintero will represent Venezuela at the Miss World 2008 contest.

Miss Amazonas Dayana Mendoza, a 21-year old professional model and student from Caracas won the title of Miss Venezuela 2007. She will represent Venezuela at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant to be held possibly in Vietnam.

Miss Venezuela International is 20-year old Dayana Colmenares, from Valencia. who will travel to China to compete at the Miss International 2008 pageant.

Miss Universe 2007, Miss Korea and Globalbeauties

The month-long love fest between Miss Korea Honey Lee and Globalbeauties continues right up to the final hours of the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City. What’s not to love about Honey Lee. She’s one of the most adorable and beautiful candidates ever to have graced the runways of the Miss Universe pageant.

Honey Lee walked away with most of Globalbeauties’ special awards, and this is what they have to say:

Honey Lee of Korea has swapped most GB special awards in this year’s Miss Universe pageant and appears as the #1 favorite for the crown. Some pageant historians go as far as saying that she is one of the most perfect beauties to have ever stepped on a Miss Universe stage. Second place went to Miss Venezuela, another huge favorites who is close to perfection.

Miss Universe 2007, Miss Japan

Ines Ligron is the national director of the Miss Japan pageant, and she’s on the ground in Mexico City schmoozing with the girls, the media, and other pageant officials. She has this to say about Miss Japan Riyo Mori’s chances:

“Everybody expect Japan to win, it is very exiting to be here.

The show ill be incredible this year, with a runway like the Victoria Secret fashion show in New York. The lighning is speactacular. Riyo will shine on the stage, she is very ready for tomorrow. Many delegates themselves are telling her that she is going to be the winner tomorrow!!

After seeing the delegates personally and on stage, talking to them, I made my choice as follow:

JAPAN – USA – VENEZUELA

KOREA – BRAZIL – SLOVENIA – SERBIA – ITALY – SPAIN – ANGOLA”

So we’re down to crunch line. It’s 9 hours to the live telecast and who will be Miss Universe 2007 top 15 line up. Who are the Miss Universe 2007 favorites for the title?

Top 5 – Miss Korea, Miss USA, Miss Italy, Miss Japan, Miss Guatemala

Top 10 – Miss Venezuela, Miss Tanzania, Miss Slovenia, Miss Thailand, Miss Paraguay

Top 15 – Miss Angola, Miss Spain, Miss Estonia, Miss Serbia, Miss Greece

The ones that can also make and impact:

Miss Peru, Miss Mexico, Miss Bolivia, Miss Russia, and Miss South Africa

So these are my 20 favorites, and I think that I should have a pretty good hit rate and that a lot of these girls will end up as Miss Universe 2007 top 15 candidates. I will providing live commentary for the two hours of the show. Just check back here for updates.

Miss Universe 2007, Miss Korea, Honey Lee

Miss Korea, Honey Lee, is all over the Universe at this very moment. Leading beauty pageant experts Globalbeauties declared her their winner this year, just a hair’s breadth ahead of traditional pageant powerhouse Miss Venezuela, the lovely Ly Jonaitis.

Honey was also Globalbeauties best in evening gown and best in interview. Miss Korea is also on the pole position of Globalbeauties’ starting grid. She was also their Face of the Universe. And their’s more. Honey won GB’s national costume award, too!

This is a phenomenal feat given how Far Eastern beauties have not really caught the attention of the pageant world until last year, when Miss Japan Kurara Chibana took home the 1st runner-up prize at the 2006 Miss Universe pageant.

Now that we are less than 12 hours from the pageant, Globalbeauties’ website is experiencing tremendous traffic, so don’t be too concerned if the links above take too long. Just click on the video links below to see other videos!

Her Miss Universe interview is awesome. And she’s adorable in this video and stunning in this one. She also spent some time at the Korean embassy in Mexico City and looked simply breathtaking in her traditional gown. And her Miss Universe interview was just so sweet! She is indeed sweet as honey!

Miss Universe Top 15 and Globalbeauties

For their 2007 coverage of the Miss Universe pageant, pageant pundits globalbeauties constructed what they call a starting grid. This was in reference to a formula 1 race, with the top delegate in “pole position”. The starting line-up changed every couple of days depending on new pictures of the delegate that came out, as well as through correspondents that were supposedly on site in Mexico City.

Interestingly for us, over the course of the month of competition no less than SIX , yes 6, different girls shared that coveted pole position spot. They were Miss Greece, Miss Venezuela, Miss Tanzania, Miss Japan, Miss Korea, and Miss Spain.

But today, the final day of competition, sees Miss Korea Honey Lee claim the final pole position. Many, many fans and pundits alike are rooting for Honey Lee and we wish her the best of luck tonight!

Miss Universe 2007, Top 15, Miss Venezuela

And we continue onto a traditional heavyweight country in the world of pageantry, Venezuela. Miss Venezuela, Ly Jonaitis, is attempting to win her country the 4th Miss Universe title – after Maritza Sayalero (1979), Irene Saez (1981), Barbara Palacios Teyde (1986), and Alicia Machado (1996). And she might very well do it. Ly is spectacular, spectacular, a true glamazon. Watch her evening gown presentation here and her swimsuit presentation here.

Miss Universe 2007

The Final 15 have been chosen. And now it’s only three days before they are revealed at the finals in Mexico City and a new Miss Universe is crowned. The pageant fans have gone crazy in the last week, predicting boom or bust for this or that candidate. Ultimately, there will always be surprises, for example no one could have predicted Miss Paraguay’s appearance in top 5. This stunning girl, Lourdes Arevalos, was so surprised herself when her name was called and she advanced to the finals. No one could have predicted it because Paraguay has no history of performing well at international pageants.

So, you ask, a country’s past performance at Miss Universe could actually determine whether the current candidate can make it or not? Well, let me get away with a “yes and no”.

Judges will always notice the beautiful girls, plain and simple. But if they’re like you and I (and they are), they are more likely to pay attention if they already know a country’s batting record at Miss Universe is already good. Take the Glamazons from places like Venezuela and Brazil. These countries have been known to produce some of the most beautiful women in the world – and people know this. So you and I, and the judges, are going to have notion of the beauty we can expect from their candidates. And 9 out of 10 times the delegates don’t disappoint. Miss India’s and Miss South Africa’s have a reputation for peerless interview style, so again judges and the rest of us are going to be very interested in what they have to say. And so on and so forth – each country’s strength – and weakness – is avidly devoured by fans, judges, national directors, and the general public.

And each year we see how the countries perform: do their batting averages go down or up? Who has the best averages? Who are the countries that are breaking through slowly but surely? And of course, who are the delegates that are complete (and welcome) surprises. We’re sure rooting for all those Miss Paraguay’s out there!

Tonight’s Miss Universe pageant live from Mexico City will see 15 girls catapulted to universal fame! Who will they be?

I made a list a few days ago: Miss Albania, Miss Angola, Miss Estonia, Miss Slovenia, Miss Spain, Miss France, Miss Greece, Miss Japan, Miss Korea, Miss Peru, Miss Poland, Miss Russia, Miss Thailand, Miss Tanzania, and Miss Venezuela!

But this list will change this afternoon when we look at our final list. Good luck to all the girls!

But now that we are but hours from the competition, my list of the top 15 has changed. I’ve also added 5 more girls that could easily place in the top 15 slots.
